Job Description:

The Gritti Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel belonging to Marriott International, is recruiting for a Chef de Rang. Reporting to the Restaurant Manager, the Chef de Rang will be part of a team of high-level professionals passionate about F&B. This is a seasonal, full-time role (40 hours/week).

This position offers an opportunity to work in an environment of art, elegance, history, and culture, with Venetian style. The Gritti is renowned for service, culinary excellence, and being a hub for international events like the Biennale, Carnival, and Venice Film Festival.

The impact you’ll make

You will share your menu expertise with guests, ensuring a memorable dining experience through warm greetings, flawless service, and friendly demeanor.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests and attend to tables promptly
  • Serve food and beverages, making recommendations as needed
  • Assist guests with menu questions and special requests
  • Record transactions accurately in MICROS system
  • Check guest satisfaction and ensure quality service
  • Clean tables, restock supplies, and complete closing duties
  • Communicate with the kitchen regarding orders, allergies, and special requests
  • Follow operational guidelines and maintain cleanliness and presentation standards

Qualifications

  • Legal right to work in Italy with a valid full-time work permit
  • Fluent in English and Italian
  • Understanding of F&B operations and luxury hospitality
  • Positive outlook and outgoing personality
  • Teamwork skills and excellent communication
  • Experience in fine dining preferred; knowledge of Micros is a plus

This role involves physical activities such as moving and lifting up to 25 lbs, standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods, and maintaining a professional appearance. Safety training and certification are required prior to employment.
