Politecnico di Milano seeks a researcher for a Fellowship project focused on developing a high-resolution spectrometer operating in the EUV range. The role involves characterizing a UV lamp emission spectrum and applying a diffraction grating with a CCD detector to measure key energy emissions.
The candidate will assess the 21.4 eV line versus the ~41 eV line, contribute to data interpretation, and support the advancement of the lab’s instrumentation program within the abovEF project.

This activity is part of the abovEF project, funded by the FIS2 program. A key component is the development of an innovative, high-resolution spectrometer operating in the extreme ultraviolet (EUV) range. Part of this instrumentation will be used to measure angle-resolved photoemission spectra of the valence states in materials, allowing for the determination of the band dispersion of electronic states. Such measurements require a light source in the extreme ultraviolet (20–40 eV). The collaborator will be tasked with characterizing the emission spectrum of a UV lamp currently available at the abovEF laboratory, specifically to determine the ratio between the emission at 21.4 eV (from neutral helium) and the emission at approximately 41 eV (from singly ionized helium). This measurement will be performed using a reflection diffraction grating and a two-dimensional silicon-based CCD detector.
