Certification Engineer

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Certification Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Pistoia, Italy.

Professional Profile

This role involves activities related to the certification and authorization process for placing railway vehicles into service in Italy and abroad, in accordance with current EU directives. The Certification Department ensures all necessary authorizations from relevant National Safety Authorities and manages the identification, availability, continuous updating, and internal dissemination of regulations and laws for vehicle authorization.

Accountabilities

1. Preparation of the list of documents and applicable rules to obtain authorization from the National Safety Agency for specific contracts.
2. Issuance of Homologation Dossiers and verification of compliance with regulatory requirements.
3. Coordination with internal departments to close certification items.
4. Interface with third-party entities (NoBo, ISA, etc.).

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Study and evaluation of technical specifications, norms, and standards.
• Ability to relate with technical figures and analyze technical items.
• Management of technical documentation and issuance of technical dossiers.
• Planning and monitoring of activities.
• Decision-making, planning, and information management skills.
• Strong relationship management, negotiation, communication, and teamworking skills.

Education and Qualifications

Master's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Telecommunication, Electronic preferred).

Languages

Fluent knowledge of English (written and spoken).
