About the role

The Category Manager is responsible for the design and execution of the category strategy.

The goal of the Category Manager is to increase sales and profitability of the category by driving sustainable growth that aligns with Catawiki’s value proposition, while having P&L responsibility.

He or She ensures a constant flow of quality supply through managing high potential leads and sellers.

The Category Manager manages an international team of Experts and makes budget and headcount decisions for the category. He or She facilitates and ensures close collaboration between the category and supporting teams.

What you’ll do

  1. Oversee a significant category (based on size, complexity, growth opportunity, and team setup) through high-level senior leadership
  2. Create and develop a strategic long-term plan for the development of the category in accordance with the Supercluster strategy as set by the Vice President
  3. Analyze data and insights related to demand, supply, quality, productivity, and customer experience to improve sustainable growth
  4. Set quarterly auction planning by proactively managing supply & demand cycles
  5. Take accountability for the category P&L
  6. Ensure quality management and curation consistency and efficiency among Experts
  7. Develop and secure the growth of an international team of Experts
  8. Align the category proposition with Catawiki’s overall value proposition for buyers and sellers
  9. Ensure customer centricity within the Customer Journey
  10. Develop strong relationships with key sellers and buyers
  11. Align strategies across departments and foster collaboration among teams
  12. Analyze and benchmark key competitors and understand market trends

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Minimum 10+ years experience in a Jewellery & Precious Stones related field
  • Minimum 5-10 years experience leading a category, setting strategy, and translating it into KPIs
  • Experience with supply & demand planning cycles
  • Knowledge of commercial procedures and negotiation strategies to optimize inventories and maximize category growth
  • Experience managing large teams, including remotely
  • Proficiency in target-driven environments, motivating teams, and maintaining quality standards
  • Knowledge of trade prices for assessing auction lots and reviewing Quality Guidelines
  • Experience with CX procedures
  • Gemmology Degree from a recognized institute (e.g., GIA, HRD, IGI), preferably registered FGA DGA
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

Where you'll be

This role can be based in The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Spain, France, or the UK with a work-from-home arrangement.
