Job Description: The opportunity We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Global Category Manager – Hotel/Mobility to manage and further develop the global sourcing strategy for accommodation and ground transportation across all Hitachi Energy locations. This is a dedicated global role within Travel Management/Supply Chain Management (SCM), reporting to the Head of Travel Management. The role is responsible for driving supplier selection, commercial negotiations, program performance, and continuous improvement across the hotel and mobility categories. It requires strong negotiation expertise, a strategic mindset, extensive knowledge of hotel and car rental procurement, a deep understanding of the supplier landscape and market dynamics, and close coordination with the wider Hitachi Group to achieve the best possible terms and conditions worldwide.

How you'll make an impact
  • Develop and execute the global category strategy for Hotel and Mobility (Car Rental and Ground Transportation) in alignment with Hitachi Energy's travel and procurement policy.
  • Negotiate and manage global and regional framework agreements with hotel chains and mobility providers, ensuring negotiated hotel and mobility solutions are available and implemented across Hitachi Energy locations worldwide.
  • Coordinate and align closely with the Hitachi Group on hotel and mobility sourcing to jointly negotiate the best possible conditions, ensuring strong collaboration and alignment across the Group.
  • Partner with Country Heads and regional stakeholders to understand local needs and market conditions, translating them into the global category approach.
  • Analyze travel spend, booking patterns, market developments, and supplier performance data to identify trends, risks, cost‑saving opportunities, and areas requiring corrective action.
  • Ensure all negotiated conditions comply with corporate policy; track and report savings, KPIs, SLAs, and supplier performance.
  • Ensure negotiated programs are effectively implemented within the TMC environment and Concur, including rate loading, content distribution, traveler communication, and adoption monitoring.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with key hotel and mobility suppliers to manage performance, service levels, and contract renewals.
  • Develop and support communication plans to promote newly negotiated programs, improve policy compliance, and enhance traveler awareness and adoption.
  • Monitor industry trends, market rates, and regulatory requirements to keep the category strategy competitive.
  • Support the rollout and communication of new agreements across the organization.
Your background
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Several years of experience in category management or strategic procurement, ideally within Travel, Hotel, Mobility, or related service categories.
  • Strong operational and strategic experience within a corporate travel environment, combined with hands‑on experience working at or closely with a Travel Management Company (TMC).
  • Experience with travel policy management and enhancing the overall traveler experience.
  • Proven track record of successfully negotiating regional and global agreements with hotel and mobility suppliers, delivering measurable commercial and operational value.
  • Experience in travel program implementation, process improvement, and optimization within TMC and Concur environments across multiple countries and regions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate spend data, market developments, and supplier performance trends into sourcing actions, category improvements, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Proven experience managing and executing global RFPs, including supplier selection, commercial evaluations, contract negotiations, and implementation support.
  • Solid knowledge of hotel sourcing, global hotel program management, preferred rate negotiations, car rental procurement, travel supplier management, KPI/SLA management, and global travel market dynamics.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels, including Country Heads and senior leadership.
  • Strong understanding of procurement governance, compliance requirements, and risk management, with a proven ability to ensure adherence to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical sourcing standards.
  • Confident, hands‑on use of tools such as Ariba, Concur, GDS systems, and travel reporting and analytics solutions.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are an advantage.
