Job Description: Casualty Underwriter (UW)

The Casualty UW is responsible for developing and managing the Chubb Casualty portfolio by leveraging strong relationships with the market and brokers. The role involves a comprehensive understanding of the Casualty market, the ability to analyze new and renewal policies, and developing tailored insurance solutions that add value to clients.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Having a deep understanding of Chubb's culture and the Casualty market.
  2. Conducting thorough underwriting analysis for both indigenous and multinational policies.
  3. Collaborating with brokers and clients to understand their needs and develop suitable insurance solutions.
  4. Maintaining and expanding relationships with brokers and clients, acting as a trusted advisor.
  5. Supporting sustainable growth of the business line.
  6. Adhering strictly to underwriting guidelines to ensure profitability.
  7. Working closely with internal stakeholders like actuaries and risk engineers.
  8. Timely pursuit of business opportunities.
  9. Maintaining an open mindset towards innovation and change.
  10. Following Chubb's compliance guidelines and processes.

Additional requirements include:

  • Solid technical knowledge of the Casualty line and understanding of the insurance market and competitors.
  • Strong negotiation skills for policy terms and conditions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of complex Casualty scenarios.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop strong relationships with clients and producers.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, suitable for the Continental Europe regional team and multinational environment.
  • A solid technical background in product development within Casualty underwriting.
  • Experience in business development, portfolio renewal, and maintenance to meet P&L targets.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Casualty Line of Business.
  • Preferred university degree in Legal, Economic, or Financial fields.

This role requires a proactive approach, adherence to all policies, and a focus on achieving the Line of Business plan on both top and bottom lines.
