Descrizione del lavoro

Organizational Setting

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) contributes to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through its Strategic Framework by supporting the transformation to more efficient, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable agrifood systems—aiming for better production, nutrition, environment, and quality of life, leaving no one behind.

The Office of Climate Change, Biodiversity and Environment (OCB) ensures that countries and stakeholders respond effectively to challenges related to climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental degradation. It provides cross-organizational coordination on these issues and acts as the focal point for major multilateral environmental agreements, including the UNFCCC and CBD.

Additionally, the Office assists FAO Members in addressing interconnected challenges such as food security, climate change, and biodiversity loss, including facilitating access to climate and environmental financing (e.g., GEF and GCF). OCB also hosts programs like GIAHS, the Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources, and the FAO work on environmental safeguards.

The Climate Change Team (CCT) within OCB offers technical assistance, normative guidance, and tools to enhance FAO members' capacity to address climate change impacts in agriculture, forestry, and land use, aligned with FAO’s climate strategy and action plan.
