Role Overview

Reporting to the Retail Merchandiser, the Buyer will collaborate with the Retail Team in planning buying strategies for the European market. The Buyer is expected to have strong market knowledge of the locations we operate in to make informed buying decisions and partner with store teams to drive their success. The role involves all buying processes across categories, tailoring the buy for various markets, and seeking opportunities to maximize retail sales.

The position is based in our Milan office.

Key Responsibilities
Retail Buying
  • Partner with DOS and Outlet stores to ensure efficient buys and stock levels to maximize sales.
  • Develop buying strategies aligned with commercial trends, ensuring product selection reflects a clear brand image.
  • Create a strong product portfolio to maintain a competitive edge and meet market demands.
  • Collaborate on seasonal buying across all categories and licenses for Europe.
  • Identify opportunities to maximize sales.
  • Manage the open-to-buy budget.
  • Forecast and plan sales potentials respecting deadlines.
  • Monitor stock shipments to ensure timely delivery for sales maximization.
  • Deliver seasonal buying reports.
Product Information
  • Participate in store product training.
  • Create product knowledge packs.
  • Provide ongoing buying feedback to managers and sales teams.
  • Collaborate with Merchandising on product concerns and opportunities.
Re-ordering, Analysis & Reporting
  • Analyze and report on product and collection results based on sales and trends.
  • Monitor sales and stock levels, taking necessary actions.
  • Place purchases and re-orders aligned with fashion trends and customer behavior.
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities within the supply chain.
  • Collaborate with VM, Marketing, PR, E-Commerce, and Merchandising to maximize sales.
  • Stay updated on competitors' strategies.
  • Communicate markdowns and timelines.
Client Knowledge
  • Develop knowledge of Stella McCartney's clients and their buying behaviors.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance sales through client insights.
Key Requirements
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in buying, preferably in RTW and/or BAGS.
  • Passion for fashion and trend awareness.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and reporting skills; knowledgeable about markets, competitors, and trends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; familiarity with sales monitoring and stock transfer systems (e.g., BI, RetailPro, Joor).
  • Fluent in Italian and English, both written and spoken.
