As a Buyer for Direct Spend, you will play a critical role in ensuring a stable, cost-effective supply of raw materials and maintaining strong, reliable vendor relationships.
You'll help drive efficiencies, support new product introductions, and deliver meaningful cost savings across the business. Working closely with colleagues in Procurement, R&D, Production Engineering, and Molding, you'll apply project management principles to support initiatives from supplier replacement to crisis management.
You'll also actively support and oversee suppliers within the Approved Supplier List (ASL), ensuring quality and continuity of supply for both new and existing product lines and for multiple manufacturing sites around the globe.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Secure cost-effective and reliable supply channels for assigned raw materials
* Scout, assess, and evaluate new vendors and materials with the Purchasing Manager, working closely with R&D, Quality, and Manufacturing
* Support negotiations with suppliers to optimize price, quality, and service while maintaining stable long-term partnerships
* Draft purchasing contracts and requests for proposals in coordination with other departments
* Manage and monitor vendor relationships and contracts, including pricing and delivery conditions
* Analyse purchasing data and market trends to improve forecasting and decision-making
* Support crisis management, including supply disruptions, provider bankruptcies, takeovers, and production blocks
* Contribute to lean transformation initiatives, optimizing vendor conditions for consignment stocks, delivery frequency, lot sizes, and transport costs
* Support the functional specifications and improvements of IT systems related to purchasing processes
* Provide input to the Purchasing budget and monitor pricing in relation to volume and mix of assigned materials
* Identify opportunities for process streamlining, alternative solutions, and cost savings through in-depth budget analysis
* Maintain and update key tools such as action plans, dashboards, and global tracking files
The Individual
* Degree in Industrial Engineering Degree/ Economics Degree or Law or a business education
* Experience in a similar role within medical devices or manufacturing
* Good knowledge and understanding of main manufacturing techniques (plastic injection molding, extrusion, fabric techniques, bonding system)
* Fluent in English, both spoken and written
* Depth knowledge of Microsoft Office suit
* Knowledge of International and National trading Regulations and obligations
* Familiarity with project management principles
* Strong organizational, analytical, and negotiation skills
* Ability to challenge existing processes and drive efficiency
