Description

BUSINESS UNIT DIRECTOR - LIVESTOCK

Scope of the Position :

The Business Unit Director (BUD) leads and manages the Livestock Unit organization with professionalism and alignment with Zoetis’ values and behaviors, ensuring the achievement of strategic goals, financial objectives, customer value, and the development of marketing, technical, and sales resources.

As a Leadership Team member, the BUD actively participates in developing the overall business strategy and performance of the Italian subsidiary BU, and contributes to the SEC Livestock strategies.

Country and localisation : Rome, Italy.

Direct manager : General Manager - Italy

Main accountabilities :

  1. Financial Management
  2. The BUD is responsible for financial leadership of the business unit :

  3. Delivering the BU operating plan and budget, ensuring sales, expenses, and IBT meet or exceed targets, maintaining financial integrity.
  4. Managing the BU P&L, proposing remediation actions, and contributing to quarterly forecasts.

Business Strategic Planning and Execution

Monitoring market conditions, developing strategic plans and budgets, leading marketing, technical, and sales teams to develop executable plans, and focusing on customer needs and industry challenges.

  1. Developing strategic plans that meet or exceed goals and optimize market share.
  2. Leading marketing efforts to optimize brand positioning, market share, and communication strategies.
  3. Building a customer-focused environment by understanding customer needs and industry challenges.

People management and development

Actively coaching and developing team members, managing performance, recruiting top talent, leading change, and ensuring compliance with Zoetis’ values and policies.

  1. Leading and developing individuals and teams to maximize potential and results.
  2. Implementing change and fostering an entrepreneurial culture.
  3. Ensuring staff adherence to Zoetis’ values, mission, vision, and policies.

Relationship management

Developing internal and external relationships to drive growth, representing the BU within Zoetis and externally, and maintaining key stakeholder relationships.

  2. Building a network of relationships with customers, opinion leaders, and industry stakeholders.

Business Development

Managing the product pipeline, developing alliances, and analyzing strategies for sales and profit growth.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills :

This role requires strong leadership, talent development, and strategic vision, with key qualifications including:

  1. Significant experience in managing people and organizations, especially in sales, marketing, and technical leadership roles.
  2. Extensive marketing and sales management experience, P&L management, and cross-functional team leadership.
  3. Strong leadership, decision-making, and change management skills.
  4. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
  5. Fluency in English; proficiency in Italian and other languages is advantageous.
  6. An MBA or advanced degree is highly desirable; a bachelor’s degree is required.
