This strategic role involves identifying new business opportunities, managing key accounts, and leading the sales process. Ideal candidates have experience in strategic sales within the defense industry, strong technical knowledge, and excellent communication skills. Fluency in English is required; Italian or German is a plus. Willingness to travel internationally is essential.

Our client is an internationally operating industrial group, known for its advanced material solutions and high-performance metal products, currently seeking a Business Development Manager – Defense (m / f / d) to expand its footprint in the international defense sector. The group is a market leader in high-end metal processing, serving demanding industries worldwide. Within its portfolio, the Defense Segment is considered a core future growth area with increasing relevance across global markets.

About the Role

In this strategic and client-facing role, you will be responsible for developing new defense-related business opportunities, managing key customer accounts, and supporting the entire sales lifecycle — from initial contact to contract conclusion.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities in the international defense market
  • Manage and grow long-term strategic customer relationships
  • Prepare offers and lead contract negotiations
  • Conduct market and competitive analysis
  • Define and implement sales and go-to-market strategies
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders such as product management and key account teams
  • Represent the company at international industry events and defense trade fairs
Qualifications
  • Several years of experience in business development or strategic sales within the defense or dual-use industry
  • Strong technical background, ideally related to components for land systems, armored vehicles, or high-performance materials
  • Sound knowledge of international defense procurement processes
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Business fluency in English (Italian and / or German are a plus)
  • Willingness to travel internationally
