The Business Development Manager, Antibody Discovery Services, will work to establish Twist’s market position in the area of variant libraries and biopharma products and services. Developing strategic goals, building key customer relationships, identifying business opportunities, negotiating and closing business deals, and maintaining extensive knowledge of market conditions will be their primary responsibilities. It is their primary duty to collaborate with internal library and biopharma groups, sales, marketing, legal, and other key managers to increase opportunities and maximize revenue for Twist Bioscience, Inc.

The Account Manager will report to the Director, Business Development, Biopharma, and lead activities to identify and facilitate opportunities to create and grow business partnerships with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and related companies and academics. This includes implementing Twist’s library technologies in antibody and protein engineering and biopharma products and services for developing antibodies, non-antibody therapeutics, and other engineered proteins.

During development, early commercialization, and launch phases, the Account Manager will also be responsible for managing and maintaining commercial alliances with key internal Twist biopharma resources and external pharma/biotech stakeholders.

What You’ll Be Doing
  1. Prospect and generate leads of potential customers, collaborators, and partners to generate revenue from library sales and antibody development solutions.
  2. Drive and secure a continuous deal flow of library sales and antibody development contracts, leading to high-value commercial agreements, especially those covering antibody development services provided by Twist Pharma.
  3. Support incoming partnership and licensing opportunities related to libraries and antibody development solutions.
  4. Lead presentations to showcase Twist’s capabilities and offerings to potential new collaborators and partners, with support from Twist Pharma scientific resources.
  5. Negotiate and close library orders, establish collaboration and partnership contracts, perform due diligence, and drive the deal process to contract execution.
  6. Maintain and grow customer relationships, collaborations, and partnerships, fostering satisfied, customer-focused development and commercial partnerships.
  7. Develop strong relationships with subject matter experts across Twist Pharma and Twist, Inc., coordinating tasks with qualified colleagues.
  8. Develop financial models, contracts, and agreements to support new business cases.
  9. Analyze market and financial data to present compelling business cases for collaborations and partnerships.
  10. Manage development of deal-specific work plans, financial terms, and budgets in collaboration with Twist Pharma, Corporate Business Development, and Finance.
  11. Conduct market research to identify potential customers, collaborators, and partnerships in the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors.
  12. Maintain a roadmap of potential opportunities to ensure a healthy, diversified revenue pipeline.
  13. Engage internal and external resources, including Legal, IP, Finance, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Operations, Sales & Marketing, to develop and maintain customer-related collaborations.
  14. Create customized sales tools and marketing collateral, such as proposals, RFP responses, and technical presentations.
  15. Follow regulatory and ISO 13485 requirements.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
  • Advanced degree and/or at least 5 years of experience in antibody development or related scientific fields.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) is desirable.
  • Experience in sales, business development, licensing, or commercial roles within the Therapeutic or Biopharma industry.
  • Successful track record of sales, partnering, or licensing contracts within the pharmaceutical industry, especially in protein and antibody engineering.
  • Deep knowledge and experience in gene mutant libraries and antibody engineering.
  • Working knowledge of antibody development processes.
  • Experience working in a global environment is preferred.
  • Experience in corporate, global, or regional sales and marketing involving gene mutant library and antibody development products/services.
