Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Business Development Director. The Business Development Director is an enterprise seller assigned to the highest accounts by sector. The role will also involve leading a cluster team of enterprise sellers to drive strategic growth within a given market or industry.

Candidate of choice will be located in:

UK, Germany, Spain, Italy

In this role, you will be responsible for pursuing sales opportunities to sell the full breadth of Element services within specified accounts to meet their assigned budget. You will support Strategic or Key Accounts within your territory with activities needed at local sites. The ideal candidate will also be able to lead a team of hunters by example, demonstrating a strategic yet relentless mindset to deliver strong organic growth. The candidate should exhibit managerial courage, be action-oriented, customer-focused, and possess an entrepreneurial drive.

Responsibilities
  • Establish and proactively maintain strong relationships with key decision makers and influencers within assigned accounts.
  • Expand business with dormant and existing accounts; prospect and develop new potential accounts.
  • Identify opportunities early in the sales cycle to ensure maximum share of wallet for Element.
  • Follow up promptly on quotations for the assigned customer base.
  • Achieve sales goals by converting, retaining, and penetrating accounts.
  • Manage relationships and utilize technical support to assist in sales.
  • Provide appropriate communications to all levels of sales and business development personnel within the sector.
  • Provide positive leadership and represent Element to the public, customers, vendors, and employees through memberships, project participation, employee meetings, and site visits.
  • Represent the company at industry association meetings to promote services.
  • Lead access and persuasion steps in the sales process, including qualifying, relationship building, needs evaluation, solution development/presentation, and closing.
  • Identify customer testing needs to uncover additional opportunities within accounts.
  • Utilize CRM actively to record activities, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
  • Participate in regular pipeline reviews, keeping CRM records up-to-date and identifying critical success factors for opportunities.
  • Build and maintain knowledge of Element’s service offerings through training and coaching.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, laws, and regulations related to safety, environment, and governance.
Skills / Qualifications
  • Technical experience with sales responsibilities.
  • Testing, metallurgical, or composites experience is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret customer quotes, contracts, marketing materials, and testing specifications.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and interpret data.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret instructions and data.
  • Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Experience with testing procedures and requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Dynamics AX, CRM, Word, and Excel.
  • Flexibility and maturity to represent the company at various events and projects.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to interface with clients, develop proposals, and determine requirements.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75%, including overnight stays.
