Hitachi Rail is seeking a Senior Brake System Engineer in Pistoia, Italy. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing system requirements, verifying technical proposals, and ensuring compliance with railway standards. Candidates should have a Master's degree in Engineering and at least 5 years in the rolling stock industry, with a strong background in electrotechnics, electronics, and pneumatics.

Accountabilities

• Preparation of the system requirements specification.
• Analysis of technical proposals from Suppliers
• Verification of drawings / documents (Electrical Mechanical pneumatic etc. for installation / integration on board
• Preparation of the functional requirements specification for integration with TCMS
• Preparation / verification of the functional & performance test specification
• System Standalone type test attendance and type test report review.
• Support during onboard integration & performance type tests
• Review of the design documentation with customer and supplier
• Support to homologation process

Required Skills / Knowledge

• Experience to perform the aforementioned accountabilities as dictated in section above
• Good experience (at least 5 years) gained in the rolling stock construction industry with the role of System Engineer on BRAKE Systems.
• Good knowledge of the disciplines of electrotechnics electronics pneumatics and sufficient knowledge of basic mechanical engineering.
• Knowledge of the main regulations / standards relating to on board systems in railway sector (EN50155 TSI Loc&Pass TSI PRM etc) and the specific standards applicable to the brake system.
• Knowledge of the main office automation software / tools (Word Excel etc..

Desired Skills / Knowledge

• knowledge of the basic concepts of the RAMS disciplines and of the on board communication networks (MVB Ethernet etc).
• Possible knowledge of electrical / mechanical design software (Autocad Creo Catia etc. and / or numerical / functional simulation tools (Matlab Simulink etc.

Education / Qualifications

Masters Degree in Engineering (Electrical Electronics disciplines are a preferential title)

Languages

Knowledge of written and spoken English (at least B2 level)
