Job summary

Mercor is seeking a highly qualified bilingual Italian STEM expert (PhD) for a remote contract role. You will write expert-level prompts in Italian, evaluate model responses for scientific accuracy and safety, and apply structured guidelines to classify prompts and conversations.

Collaborating with AI research teams, you will help improve training data quality and downstream performance while working independently to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Position: Bilingual Italian STEM Expert (PhD)

Compensation: $50–$54/hour

Qualifications – Must-Have

• PhD in chemistry, biology, or a closely related field.
• Native or near-native fluency in Italian, plus business-level written English.
• Deep familiarity with modern laboratory and computational techniques in your subfield.
• Sound judgment around scientific safety and the responsible handling of dual-use information.

Qualifications – Preferred

• Based in Italy or the wider Western Europe region.
• Radiological and nuclear coverage from a chemistry background.
• Demonstrated depth in a specific subfield like organic or inorganic synthesis, molecular biology, microbiology, virology, or genetics.
• Research or coursework on chemical safety and security, biosafety and biosecurity, or hazardous-materials handling.
• Experience reviewing, grading, or red-teaming technical content.
