Team Overview and Job Responsibilities

Prysmian's Purchasing function is seeking an intern to join as a Junior Buyer in the Base Metals team.

Main tasks of the role:

1. Manage inbound supply chain activities for aluminium rods and support copper rods as backup for all group plants in Europe, based on negotiated contracts. This involves collecting demand from plants, verifying consistency with Logistics HQ, allocating to contracted suppliers, and optimizing Prysmian's spending within existing constraints (contracts, supplier capacity, lead times). Operational activities will be carried out under the supervision of a senior team member.
2. Manage the administrative cycle of metal supply, including supplier call-offs, order management in SAP, handling variations and extras, and updating internal databases.
3. Expedite suppliers to ensure alignment with plant needs.

Who are we looking for?

• Education: Engineering or Economics degree, including three-year programs.
• Experience: Basic experience in purchasing or logistics.
• Personal characteristics: Analytical mindset, high accuracy, organized, methodical, capable of working under stress, and customer-oriented towards internal clients.
• IT skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel), familiarity with SAP is a plus, adaptable to learning new software.
• Language skills: Excellent spoken and written English for daily communication with affiliates and suppliers.
• Financial knowledge: Understanding of derivative contracts and main instruments for market risk mitigation is preferable.

The selected candidate will undergo training and support the supply chain team under the supervision of the Head of Base Metal Supply Chain.
