A research-based organization in Bolzano is seeking a Back-End Developer to design and manage back-end services for data analysis and crime prevention. Responsibilities include API development, integrating analytical models, and supporting researchers. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of R/Python and a relevant degree. This position offers flexibility with in-person or remote options.

We are looking for a Back-End Developer to join our team and support the design, creation, customization, and maintenance of back-end and API development related to web services used for data analysis and financial and crime prevention investigations.

Transcrime is the Joint Research Centre on Innovation and Crime of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan. Crime&tech srl is its spin-off company, which translates Transcrime’s research into analyses, models, and tools for the assessment, prevention, and reduction of security and crime-related risks.

Main responsibilities :

• Support the creation, customization, and maintenance of the dashboard backend;
• Support API development and management;
• Integration with LLM API;
• Develop R and/or Python code for KPI calculation;
• Work with researchers to implement their proposed analytical models within the back-end.

Minimal requirements :

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or Mathematics (in progress or completed);
• Knowledge of R and/or Python programming languages;
• Experience in data analysis;
• Basic knowledge of SQL;
• Knowledge of software development, particularly the implementation of RESTful APIs;
• Proficiency in English.

Preferred requirements :

• Basic knowledge of Linux;
• Basic knowledge of Docker;
• Familiarity with at least one major cloud provider: GCP (preferred), AWS, Azure;
• Interest in business intelligence, compliance, anti-money laundering, or illegal markets.

Contract terms and salary will be determined based on experience, availability, and commitment.

Working mode : In-person or remote work with occasional meetings at Transcrime’s office, Via San Vittore 43, Milan, according to the candidate’s preference and internal planning.
