Description

Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Automation Software Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will perform a broad range of tasks, from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Naples, Italy.

Mission:

Contribute to delivering software that meets input requirements (functional, performance, quality) based on efficient modular design, balancing budget, schedule, risks, reuse, and standardization for future projects.

Willingness to travel: up to 50%

Accountabilities include but are not limited to:

• Manage requirements throughout all software lifecycle phases.
• Design and implement complete solutions (modules, documentation, tools).
• Develop documentation, flowcharts, diagrams, code comments, and clear code to demonstrate solutions.
• Ensure proper operation of software on applicable platforms.
• Support other functional units such as RAMS, verification, testing, and commissioning.
• Apply best practices, methodologies, and technical solutions consistent with development standards.

Required Education:

Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer, Electronics, Telecommunications, or Automation Engineering.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years in web application development, covering both front-end (client side) and back-end (server side).

Skills and Qualifications:

• Proficiency in software design, debugging, documentation, and testing.

Knowledge in:

• UI and UX design.
• Experience with front-end frameworks, preferably Angular.
• Experience with back-end frameworks, preferably Spring Boot and Node.js.
• Proficiency in server-side programming languages like Java, Python, C#/.NET.
• Advanced testing techniques, continuous integration.
• Experience with SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra) databases.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture, preferably Docker.
• Knowledge of Linux environment.
