Job Purpose

The Automation Engineer is responsible for developing, designing, building, planning, executing, and closing automation and Continuous Improvement projects through cross-functional team collaboration. Responsibilities include performing (preventive) maintenance, modifications, and repairs of all automated production systems, ensuring high reliability and productivity of the machinery and automated production systems, safety, automation, data collection, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and providing IT support.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and coordinate automation project planning, execution, and closing.
• Participate in Project Management Plans and Processes (cost, schedule, communication, resources, scope, risk, etc.).
• Provide local strategic decisions support in annual planning processes in terms of opportunities and prioritization.
• Coordinate installation, commissioning, and start-up collaborating with suppliers, end users, and plant operation teams.
• Provide technical expertise to configure, maintain, and troubleshoot plant equipment and systems.
• Act as the site Subject Matter Expert on robotic equipment.
• Maintain, develop, and improve the Plant Floor Systems by modifications of PLC, SCADA, and HMI applications.
• Identify, analyze, and solve (potential) problems / malfunctions of the Plant Floor Systems.
• Research and advise on (automated) production systems.
• Share knowledge and develop skills of others and participate in continuous learning opportunities.
• Take initiatives to optimize working activities.
• Understand and apply company standards including Safety, Food Safety, Sustainability, Performance, Reliability, Finance, Security, and Risk Management.

Education / Experience Requirements

• Bachelor in Engineering / Technical field.
• 3-5 years of engineering experience in integration, production, or supply chain environments with an automation focus.
• RPA certification (Robotic Process Automation).
• Work experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably food).
