This position reports to

Segment Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will support customers by providing technical assistance and specialist support. You will develop software collaboratively with colleagues and customers, showcase your expertise by supporting the sales office in identifying the best technical proposals, and establish collaborative relationships with customers. The work model for this role is: #LI-Hybrid. This position contributes to Machine Automation within Robotics & Discrete Automation, B&R Automation in Bologna. Your main responsibilities include:

1. Supporting customers (manufacturers of automatic machines and industrial plants) with technical assistance or specialist support pre- and post-sales on hardware and software products and solutions.
2. Developing software for real-time systems (PLC and PC), motion control systems, HMI solutions, mechatronics, and virtual prototyping, collaborating with customers' automation and R&D departments.
3. Establishing empathetic and collaborative relationships with customers and colleagues to achieve business goals and ensure smooth information flow to stakeholders.
4. Proactively solving problems by leveraging technical and logical skills to enhance professionalism.
5. Supporting the sales team in identifying optimal technical proposals and promoting knowledge transfer within the technical office.
6. Providing technical assistance over the phone or on-site, resolving product and application issues.
7. Organizing and preparing technical activities to address various problems and applications strategically.
8. Collaborating with HQ on technical issue escalation and the implementation of innovative processes and methodologies.
9. Assisting in delivering internal and external technical and professional training activities.

Qualifications for the role

• Degree in Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience.
• Strong interest in automation, programming, digitalization, and innovation.
• Proficiency in structured programming, with knowledge of IEC 61131 languages or C. Familiarity with industrial automation products such as PLCs, motion control systems, and SCADA. Basic knowledge of electronics, mechanics, mathematics, and control theory. Knowledge of object-oriented programming is a plus.
• Experience with simulation and modeling tools (Matlab Simulink, MapleSim) and understanding of artificial vision concepts are appreciated.
• Fluency in Italian and English, both written and spoken.
• Team-oriented with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
• Willingness to travel within the area and occasionally across Italy and abroad for short trips.
