Job Summary

The Automation Application Specialist in the diagnostics industry is responsible for supporting the implementation, optimization, and maintenance of automated diagnostic systems and workflows. This role involves working closely with laboratory staff, customers, and cross-functional teams to ensure that automation solutions meet the needs of the diagnostics processes and enhance overall laboratory efficiency. The Automation Application Specialist will provide technical expertise, training, and ongoing support to ensure the successful deployment and operation of automation systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Implementation and Support:
    1. Assist in the installation, configuration, and validation of automated diagnostic systems.
    2. Ensure that automation solutions are integrated seamlessly with existing laboratory workflows.
    3. Provide on-site and remote support to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  2. Customer Training and Education:
    1. Conduct training sessions for laboratory staff and customers on the use and maintenance of automation systems.
    2. Develop training materials and documentation to support users.
    3. Ensure users are proficient in operating and troubleshooting automation equipment.
  3. Optimization and Continuous Improvement:
    1. Analyze laboratory workflows and identify opportunities for process improvements through automation.
    2. Work with customers to optimize the performance of automated systems.
    3. Implement changes and enhancements to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  4. Technical Expertise:
    1. Serve as a subject matter expert on automation technologies and applications in diagnostics.
    2. Stay updated with the latest advancements in automation and diagnostic technologies.
    3. Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams and customers.
  5. Quality Assurance and Compliance:
    1. Ensure that all automation solutions comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, ISO).
    2. Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain compliance.
    3. Implement and uphold rigorous quality control processes.
  6. Collaboration and Communication:
    1. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, R&D, and customer support, to ensure successful project outcomes.
    2. Communicate project status, challenges, and solutions to stakeholders.
    3. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and partners.
  7. Documentation and Reporting:
    1. Maintain accurate and detailed records of installation, configuration, and support activities.
    2. Provide regular reports on project progress, system performance, and customer feedback.
    3. Document best practices and lessons learned for future reference.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  2. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in automation systems, with a focus on diagnostics or laboratory environments.
  3. Strong technical skills and experience with automated diagnostic systems and laboratory equipment.
  4. Proficiency in relevant software and tools used in automation and diagnostics.
  5. Fluency in English, Italian and a 2nd EU language (Spanish, German or French).
Working Conditions:
  1. This position is Remote based in Italy and will require frequent travel to other company locations or to meet with clients and vendors.
