Gartner is seeking a Consulting Associate Director to lead AI-focused engagements in a hybrid role based in Rome or Milan. You will oversee project delivery, client relationships, and multi-team coordination at the highest strategic level, guiding transformations that leverage AI to achieve critical business outcomes.

You will bring extensive consultancy experience in leadership roles, with deep knowledge of AI strategy, governance, and transformation programs, including MLOps and data readiness

What you'll do

Our Consulting Associate Directors are responsible for high-level project delivery and oversight along with client relationship management. You will manage teams, and advise clients at the highest strategic level on both big-picture and tactical matters, focusing on how technology enables a wide range of business outcomes.

What you'll need

• Experience within a well-regarded management consultancy in an engagement leadership capacity
• Experience across a range of AI and Generative AI topics, such as: AI and Generative AI strategy
• AI transformation programmes and enterprise adoption
• Large Language Models (LLMs), foundation models, multimodal AI, and AI agents
• Generative AI architecture, including cloud, on-premise, hybrid, and multi-model environments
• Knowledge of scalable, secure, responsible, and cost-effective AI solutions
• AI use-case identification, prioritisation, business case development, and value realisation
• AI operating models, governance frameworks, policies, and controls
• Responsible AI, including privacy, security, explainability, bias, safety, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance
• AI risk management, model evaluation, monitoring, and assurance
• Data strategy, data governance, data quality, and data readiness for AI adoption
• MLOps and LLMOps, including model deployment, lifecycle management, observability, and continuous improvement
• AI architecture and modernisation experience, including integrating Generative AI into existing applications, business processes, and customer journeys
• Experience evaluating an organisation's data, technology, and AI capabilities against long-term business objectives
• Experience selecting and evaluating AI platforms, foundation models, technology vendors, and implementation approaches
• Experience developing AI roadmaps, target operating models, capability requirements, implementation plans, and transformation programmes
• Experience delivering AI proofs of concept and supporting the transition of solutions from experimentation into production
• Understanding of the organisational and workforce implications of AI, including skills, culture, operating processes, and change management
• Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and the ability to assist in the creative development of solutions and strategies to solve client problems
• An ability to be hands-on and to manage multiple client priorities simultaneously
• MBA or other advanced degree preferred

Consulting Experience:

• Experience within a well-regarded management consultancy in a project delivery capacity.
• Prior experience in a problem-solving capacity such as a solution/technical architect or analyst preferred
• A consistent track record of leading people and building high-performing teams that leverage technology to drive the mission-critical priorities of commercial or government entities
• An ability to inspire and motivate professionals from both technical and non-technical backgrounds towards a common goal
• Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and the creative development of solutions and strategies to solve client problems. Must adapt Gartner frameworks and methodologies to strike at the heart of a client's most pressing business challenges
• An ability to be hands-on and to manage multiple client priorities simultaneously
• Excellence in written and verbal communication
• Expertise with strategic consulting frameworks
• Building rapid proto-types for presentations / sales proposals
• Excellent people skills and customer relationship track record;
• Experience in developing client business relationships as part of a commercial organisation;
