The research activity will focus on designing artificial cells that convert CO₂ into amino acids, peptides and metabolites. These biomimetic systems will be giant lipid vesicles containing organelles, purified enzymes and synthetic components.
The researcher will enable artificial metabolic networks and microreactors for CO₂ fixation, contribute to cyanobacterial cultivation, isolation of functional carboxysomes, and enzyme expression for synthetic pathways.

The research activity will focus on the design and construction of artificial cells capable of converting carbon dioxide into biotechnologically relevant molecules, including amino acids, peptides, and metabolites. These biomimetic systems will be engineered as giant lipid vesicles containing biological organelles, purified enzymes, and synthetic components. The functional integration of these elements will enable the creation of artificial metabolic networks and microreactors capable of exploiting CO₂ fixation for the production of high-value compounds. The researcher will contribute to the cultivation of cyanobacterial strains, the isolation of functional carboxysomes, and the expression and characterization of enzymes from different organisms to be employed in the construction of synthetic metabolic pathways.
