The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of field sales experience, fluent in Italian and proficient in English. This position offers a competitive salary between €38,500 and €56,000, along with benefits including partial remote work and a company car.

The successful candidate must be based in Southern Italy (South of Rome) or be willing to relocate.

The Area Sales Manager is responsible for achieving commercial targets in both the country and their assigned territory (Southern Italy) through proper management of the Sales Team and dealer network, maximizing sales and profits for Mercury Marine brands (Mercury Outboard, Mercury Diesel, Mercury Mercruiser Inboard Motors, Parts and Accessories, including Quicksilver and Attwood, Quicksilver Inflatables) in line with forecasts and budgets. This role aims to strengthen Mercury's market position and share, providing support to reseller partners across sales activities such as marketing, advertising, promotions, and training to meet revenue goals.

  • Conduct Marine Trade Area analysis to identify strengths and weaknesses, and develop plans to enhance the dealer network.
  • Develop dealers within the territory in brand profile, sales, marketing, organization, and financial growth.
  • Implement dealer network changes by evaluating new dealers based on retail, service, and financial criteria.
  • Manage the dealer network by improving retail performance, merchandising, local marketing, and CRM activities.
  • Oversee wholesale commitments to optimize dealer inventory and sales.
  • Support OEM business by aligning the dealer network with OEM priorities.
  • Maintain and grow dealer relationships to increase brand loyalty and sales.
  • Promote brands to attract new dealers and motivate existing ones.
  • Stay informed on customer needs and market trends to influence product and service development.
  • Monitor market conditions, product performance, and sales trends to identify growth opportunities.
  • Resolve dealer issues impacting performance, profitability, or customer satisfaction, with support from Brunswick teams.

Enhance end-user processes to improve customer experience.

Market Intelligence (competition, opportunities, trends)

Ensure proper territory coverage by acquiring new dealers and managing low performers.

  • Support marketing activities such as proof-reading, boat shows, dealer meetings, and press tests.
  • Monitor retail and wholesale market activity within the area.
  • Participate in projects to improve sales force efficiency across EMEA.

Skills & Knowledge

Experience :

  • Minimum 5 years of field sales experience with a dealer network structure.
  • Technical background in mechanics and electronics is advantageous.
  • Experience in area and country management.

Languages :

  • Native Italian and proficient in English, both written and spoken.

Positive attitude, openness to new ideas, customer focus, strong interpersonal and communication skills, initiative, team spirit, ability to work independently, and willingness to travel frequently in Italy. Must be stress-resistant and experienced in conflict management. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and ERP systems. Driver’s license required; boating license is a plus.

This position is classified as Global Grade 11, with a salary range of €38,500 to €56,000 (paid in 14 installments). The actual offer depends on skills, experience, and location. Benefits include partial remote work, company car and fuel card, and a sales incentive plan targeting 15% of annual salary, plus an annual Merit Plan.

This role reports to Alessandro Conti, Country Manager Italy.
