Our client in the Petrochemical industry is seeking a direct-hire (onsite) Area Manager to oversee multiple production units and/or departments within the facility. This role holds overall responsibility for the performance and supply continuity of manufacturing areas, including safety, quality, management of change, discipline, and operating budget. The Area Manager will direct unit supervisors, area engineers, and logistics personnel, coordinating with other groups to drive improvements within the facility. The position may involve managing or supervising a team of up to 40 employees.

Location: Pasadena, TX

Responsibilities
  • Actively promote and lead plant safety culture and EHS efforts.
  • Supervise reports, conduct employee evaluations, and plan for development and training.
  • Resolve employee issues and discipline problems independently or with HR consultation.
  • Collaborate daily with operations personnel to address operational issues and prioritize resources.
  • Discuss short-term and long-term activities with tech service and logistics teams.
  • Interface with Business Group, R&D, Manufacturing, Process Technology, and Logistics on customer service, quality, new products, and distribution.
  • Develop and monitor goals and objectives for the area.
  • Manage annual budgets, monitor costs, and promote cost improvement initiatives.
  • Provide coverage for the Operations Manager and assume Unit Supervisor responsibilities when needed.
  • Lead EHS initiatives, including incident investigations, root cause analysis, and safety meetings.
  • Drive quality initiatives, reduce process variation, and monitor production quality.
  • Assist with labor relations issues with Union representatives.
  • Develop and implement plans for new product introductions, emphasizing First Time Right.
  • Coordinate unit turnarounds with Logistics and Maintenance.
  • Review safety and operability of capital projects and request minor capital expenditures.
  • Coordinate the Management of Change process.
  • Recruit and mentor plant tech service engineers and logistics personnel.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
  • 7-10 years relevant experience in the chemical industry.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Master’s degree in a technical field.
  • 10+ years relevant experience.
