We are seeking an Arabic (Gulf) Language Expert to help shape the next generation of artificial intelligence through specialized linguistic knowledge and cultural expertise. In this freelance role, you will evaluate advanced language models and improve their ability to understand and communicate naturally in Gulf Arabic. You will assess dialectal accuracy, grammar, vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, and cultural nuances across diverse conversational contexts. Your insights will help identify model weaknesses, strengthen reasoning capabilities, and improve language evaluation methods. Working remotely, you will contribute to AI training projects that support more authentic, culturally relevant, and linguistically accurate interactions. Accountabilities:

As an Arabic (Gulf) Language Expert, you will evaluate AI-generated language, identify linguistic and cultural inaccuracies, and provide structured feedback to improve model performance. Your work will help ensure that AI systems understand the distinctive characteristics of Gulf Arabic and respond appropriately across a wide range of contexts.

• Interact with advanced language models in Gulf Arabic across diverse topics and conversational scenarios.
• Evaluate linguistic accuracy, including phonetics, morphology, syntax, vocabulary, grammar, and regional dialect variations.
• Assess the appropriate use of colloquial expressions, idioms, cultural references, and context-dependent meanings.
• Identify and document model errors, inconsistencies, and failure patterns using clear, reproducible examples.
• Analyze contextual interpretation, semantic accuracy, dialect distinctions, and cultural relevance in AI-generated responses.
• Provide detailed explanations of linguistic issues and demonstrate the reasoning behind evaluations and corrections.
• Recommend improvements to prompt engineering, training approaches, and language evaluation metrics.
• Contribute to the development of high-quality training data that strengthens AI understanding of Gulf Arabic and its cultural context.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate has a strong command of Gulf Arabic, a deep understanding of regional linguistic and cultural nuances, and the ability to communicate analytical observations clearly. Experience in linguistics, translation, teaching, language documentation, or community-based language work is valuable, particularly when combined with a structured and detail-oriented approach to evaluating AI outputs.

• Expert-level proficiency in Arabic, with specialized knowledge of Gulf Arabic dialects and regional variations.
• Strong understanding of phonetics, morphology, syntax, semantics, colloquial expressions, idiomatic language, and cultural references.
• Excellent ability to assess linguistic accuracy and identify subtle differences in meaning, tone, and context.
• Strong written communication skills and the ability to explain linguistic judgments with clear examples and evidence.
• A methodical, analytical approach to identifying errors, documenting reproducible examples, and evaluating model performance.
• A Master's degree in Linguistics, Middle Eastern Studies, Translation, or a related field is preferred.
• Professional experience in language teaching, translation, linguistic research, language documentation, or community-based language work is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently, manage assigned tasks, and deliver consistent, high-quality evaluations in a remote environment.
• Interest in artificial intelligence, language model evaluation, and the development of culturally informed AI systems.
