Offer Description

Peptides, molecules composed of
amino acid sequences, represent a promising class of molecules for pharmaceutical use due to their activity
on biological systems. The activity of this project fits into this framework. Advanced spectroscopic
methodologies will be used to design, study, and test new potential drugs in various fields. In particular, the
following bioactive peptides will be investigated: i) peptides capable of permeabilizing the cell membranes of
pathogenic microorganisms, as potential innovative antibiotic drugs; ii) peptides capable of inhibiting proteinprotein
interactions, as potential anticancer drugs. Following the tradition of the Physical Chemistry
Laboratory of Biological Systems, for both lines of research, the studies will be conducted both on model
systems, which allow for rigorous determinations of the properties of interest due to their simplicity, and on
real systems, enabling quantitative comparisons between the two different systems
