Application Engineer - Mobile/Modular Substation Center of Competence

As an Application Engineer, your main task will be to technically support Marketing, Sales, Tendering, Execution, and Service. You will represent the Center of Competence in various tender and project teams, managing technical solutions, customer needs, and promoting customer understanding of mobile solutions. You will collaborate with other departments throughout the entire tender process to ensure timely, optimized, and cost-effective solutions in accordance with standard processes, procedures, and safety guidelines. Additionally, you will work closely with R&D to coordinate new base solutions for tenders and conduct training to expand application knowledge within the company.

Your responsibilities

1. Technically support Marketing, Sales, Tendering, Execution, and Service
2. Communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders (TSOs, DSOs, consultants, etc.)
3. Work closely with Front-End Sales to leverage relationships and the Hitachi Energy portfolio
4. Ensure a positive customer experience throughout sales, tendering, execution, and service processes
5. Seek optimized technical solutions collaboratively with Hitachi Energy teams
6. Create value for customers and Hitachi Energy through innovation and experience from projects, aligning with company strategy
7. Take accountability for technical solutions and coordinate technical aspects in tenders
8. Support market communication activities such as seminars, conferences, publications, and conduct training sessions

Your background

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of experience in HV/MV electrical system integration projects
• Customer-focused with strong communication skills for conveying technical information to engineering, business, and industry stakeholders
• Interdisciplinary knowledge of substation design
• Proficiency in creating Single Line Diagrams, Bill of Materials, Major Equipment Specifications, and technical deviation lists
• Experience with 2D/3D software such as AutoCAD and Revit
• Ability to develop project schedules and engineering estimates
• Skilled in technical risk analysis and mitigation strategies during tendering
• On-site project experience including installation and supervision
• Ability to meet deadlines and work within budgets
• Capability to oversee entire projects/bids while managing detailed technical aspects
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; German is a plus
