Job summary

Thales Alenia Space is seeking an Antenna MGSE Designer to develop MGSE for the Antenna Product Line, including 3D CAD modeling, drawings, and procurement support. The role involves coordinating with project managers, defining architecture, and ensuring on-site validation.

Ideal candidates have a strong CATIA background, experience with 3D CAD tools, and a background in mechanical design or aeronautics. Permanent position based in Italy with competitive compensation and performance bonuses.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred; mechanical engineering degree or equivalent is acceptable.
• Good knowledge and experience of 3D CAD tools with CATIA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interface with project manager to define make-or-buy strategy.
• Contribute to MGSE architecture for antennas.
• Prepare MGSE Technical and Procurement Specification and SOW for containers, trolleys, and supporting frames.
• Create 3D CATIA models for MGSE across programs and facilities.
• Generate 2D parts and assembly drawings in CATIA.
• Provide model inputs for thermal and mechanical analyses.
• Coordinate with Purchasing Office for supplier selection and procurement tracking.
• Monitor MGSE procurement and participate in design and acceptance reviews.
• Ensure MGSE availability and on-site validation; support cost/schedule control.

We are looking for an Antenna MGSE Designer.

The antenna department is responsible for design, development, manufacturing, integration, test and delivery of antennas and required mechanisms for spacecraft. The antennas can be designed for different missions: telecommunication, earth observation, navigation, science and exploration.

The resource will be involved in the development of all the MGSE of the Antenna Product Line.

In particular the Resource shall:

• Interface with the project manager of each Antenna Project to define the make or buy strategy
• Contribute to the study and definition of the overall MGSE (H/W & S/W) architecture
• Prepare MGSE (H/W & S/W) Technical and Procurement Specification and SOW related to Containers, trolley, lifting device, 0 G deployment system, supporting frame (and other specific MGSE) for all the qualification / acceptance test campaign
• Create 3d CATIA model for MGSE dedicated to programs and facilities within Space rules and laws
• Generation of 2D parts drawings in CATIA
• Generation of 2D assembly drawings in CATIA
• Generation of required model for thermal and mechanical analyses inputs
• Follow the selection of Suppliers working with Purchasing Office
• Purchasing Notification management and emission
• Monitoring of MGSE procurement (Design Reviews and Acceptance Test Reviews)
• Ensure Availability of MGSE according to schedule needs
• Ensure MGSE /H/W and S/W) Validation on site
• Support CAM and AIT Manager for Cost & Schedule control as applicable for MGSE.

Requirements For The Position

• High School Diploma (Aeronautical or mechanical specialization) preferred, Mechanical engineering degree (or equivalent)
• Good knowledge and experience of 3D CAD tools (CATIA preferred) for Mechanical Design

The following would be an asset:

• Experience within a similar field, automotive or aerospace
• Experience with CATIA V5, Femap, Nastran, Patran
