The selected candidates will conduct research in neuroengineering, neurology, and signal analysis, applying methods from Bioengineering, Neurophysiology, and Biophysics. Activities will focus on developing algorithms for the analysis of cortical signals recorded through electroencephalography in healthy individuals and people with cognitive disorders, as well as subcortical signals from patients with implanted neuromodulation devices. Computational modeling will also be a key component.
The research aims to investigate the neural mechanisms underlying cognitive decline associated with aging and neurodegenerative diseases. Work will involve analyzing neural data and their relationship with behavior, and/or developing in silico models of neural activity. Research activities will mainly rely on computational and data-processing tools, including Matlab, Python, and software for neural architecture simulation.
