Job summary

Leonardo SpA in Cascina Costa (VA) invites applications for a Master’s thesis internship in the Technology Lab & Inspection team within the Engineering Directorate. The project focuses on the simulation of Laser Powder Bed Fusion processes, developing numerical models to predict temperature evolution, residual stresses, and distortions in AM parts.

Qualifications

• Ongoing Master’s degree in Mechanical, Materials or Aeronautical Engineering.
• Availability to carry out the internship as part of Master’s thesis.
• Good command of English.
• Interest in AM and Materials Engineering.
• Ability to work in a structured engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate LPBF numerical models.
• Simulate temperature evolution, residual stresses and distortions.
• Perform FE or numerical simulations and interpret results.
• Correlate simulations with available experimental data.
• Prepare a Master’s thesis report documenting methodologies and results.
• Contribute to internal guidelines and best practices.
