TXT is looking for thesis students for a thesis project in the field of virtual reality and the metaverse.

Project title

Analysis and development of exergames in the metaverse for cognitive and motor rehabilitation.

Background

The analysis and development of a new, advanced set of activities (exergames) in the Metaverse that can be used on VR devices and tablets for clinical and home rehabilitation will improve cognitive and motor therapy for patients, potentially reducing healthcare costs and enabling therapeutic paths to be adapted to specific individual deficits.

Using new Metaverse and VR technologies synergised with AI decision-support algorithms will enable the development of a rehabilitation platform to complement traditional therapy, thereby expanding the range of therapeutic possibilities for patients.

The research phase is an integral part of the thesis pathway and is supported by professionals from leading organisations in the field of cognitive and motor rehabilitation, including Universita Cattolica and Fondazione Don Carlo Gnocchi. Psychologists and therapists specialising in cognitive and motor rehabilitation will be involved in the analysis and development of the exergames.

Main activities
  • Use of new technologies related to virtual reality and the Metaverse;
  • Using Unity and the WEAVR platform for development;
  • Analysis and development of five collaborative exergames for cognitive and motor rehabilitation for VR and tablets, with different levels of difficulty depending on the results of ongoing therapy;
  • Analysis and development of the Metaverse as an environment in which the exergames can be played, creating a unique virtual context for all patients;
  • Analysis and development of a data collection system for patient performance and monitoring via artificial intelligence, to propose adaptive therapy based on previous therapy session results.

  • Knowledge of AI algorithms.
