- Job purpose
Implement business development plans and processes to generate new / additional business, maximize profit and grow market share in line with business strategy, financial objectives, Group guidelines and policies.
- Key tasks
- Execute business development plans and processes to achieve targeted customer growth and retention, revenue targets, and budgets.
- Deliver projects and initiatives to develop new business and maximize exposure for DHL amongst targeted prospects.
- Undertake market and feasibility studies to assess market potential and analyze target groups.
- Prospect new business opportunities through market research and marketing initiatives.
- Initiate contact with targeted prospects, identify decision makers, and understand their strategic business challenges and priorities.
- Identify customer needs and match them with DHL’s services.
- Develop leads, conduct pre-proposal visits, prepare proposals, and conduct negotiations to close deals.
- Maintain and build relationships with prospects and key accounts, including high-level decision makers, and coordinate activities of prospect-focused teams.
- Initiate new business relationships with non-buying accounts targeted by the company.
- Partner with local, district, and regional management to coordinate customer requests and services.
- Coordinate sales efforts with inside sales and provide data on competitors and suppliers to product management.
- Identify problems beyond own authority and adapt work methods accordingly.
Job requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years of sales experience in Freight Forwarding (air and ocean freight required).
- Excellent knowledge of Airfreight products.
- Experience with logistics processes, systems, and solutions.
- Strong analytical skills and sales attitude.
- Strategic vision, forwarding business acumen, results-driven, and detail-oriented.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a problem-solving attitude.
- Ability to recognize threats and opportunities, and implement best practices for continuous improvement.
- Excellent knowledge of the target geographical area.
- Italian language proficiency required.
