Job summary

Lexroom is building the AI-powered platform for the legal industry in Europe. We are seeking an Accountant to develop the internal accounting engine for our Finance team, reporting to the Finance lead. The role requires coordinating with external accountants and our AI-first tooling to deliver reliable monthly numbers in a hybrid Milan-based setup.

You will own internalization, close, invoicing control, and audit readiness across European entities, with English and Italian fluency essential.

Qualifications

• 2 to 3 years of hands-on accounting experience, ideally in a Big Four or startup environment.
• Direct experience with monthly closes and reconciliations on tight deadlines.
• A sharp eye for errors and a habit of checking numbers before anyone asks.
• You build processes and are curious about how software/AI can reduce manual work.

• Accounting Internalization: bring Italian accounting in-house from January, starting with a dry run in December.
• Monthly Close: own tasks to close within 10 business days (invoice registration, reconciliations, pre-close checks).
• AI-First Accounting Tooling: set up and validate the accounting platform, push automation further monthly.

The Role

As we bring accounting in-house and prepare for our first audit, we are looking for an Accountant to build the accounting engine behind our Finance team. You’ll report to our Finance lead and own the process that gets us reliable numbers every month, working with one of the first AI-first accounting platforms adopted in Italy.

Your key responsibilities

• Accounting Internalization: Bring Italian accounting in-house from January, starting with a dry run in December and working with our external accountants through the transition.

• Monthly Close: Own the tasks that get us to a monthly close within 10 business days: invoice registration, bank reconciliations, and pre-close checks.

• AI-First Accounting Tooling: Set up our accounting platform (Light), make sure what goes in and what comes out is right, and push automation further every month.

• Invoicing Control: Make sure every deal is invoiced and every invoice is checked and recorded, increasing the share of invoicing that runs automatically.

• Audit Readiness & International Entities: Keep the books audit-ready and support the accounting setup with local accountants across our European entities.

What we're looking for

• Accounting Experience: 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience in accounting, ideally in a Big Four firm or in a startup or scale-up.

• Monthly Close: Direct experience contributing to monthly closes and reconciliations on tight deadlines.

• Control Mindset: A sharp eye for errors and the habit of checking the numbers before anyone asks.

• Builder & Automation Mindset: You build processes rather than just follow them, and you’re curious about how software and AI can remove manual work.

• Location & Language: Based in or willing to relocate to Milan (hybrid model). Fluent in English and Italian.
