The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude. Responsibilities include bookkeeping, compliance with financial regulations, and preparation of financial reports to support operational decision-making.

HHLA PLT Italy is a multipurpose maritime terminal started in 2021, located in the middle of the fast-growing North Adriatic market. Here, the Expansion Project Team, carried out by a subsidiary of HHLA PLT Italy, Logistica Giuliana, is planning and executing a game changer phased project aiming to integrate the current facility into a state-of-the-art intermodal container and RoRo terminal, making use of the most advanced technologies and expertise, aiming at flawless operations being best in class regarding work safety.

As part of our Expansion Project (Logistica Giuliana), we are seeking an experienced and reliable Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a solid understanding of accounting principles. This role will be responsible for processing transactions, managing and maintaining accurate financial records, customer invoicing, bank bookings, and month-end activities, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

What you can expect

• Responsible for maintenance of ordinary bookkeeping (Maintain accurate and complete financial records, including ledgers, invoices, and receipts)
• Process payments to vendors and utilities, ensuring timely and accurate transactions.
• Reconciliation of bank balances (from bank statements)
• Reconciliation of customers and suppliers accounting records
• Assist processing of tax fulfilments (F24, LIPE, Intrastat, Excise, tax amends, virtual stamp duty, other fiscal declarations as 770, IRAP…) with support from external tax consultant
• Surety policy management (in port/state free zone is a plus)
• Ensure all documents are properly approved and distributed.
• Communicate with vendors, customers and banks for accounting purposes.
• Prepare reports in cooperation with Head of Finance
• reclassification of balance sheet and income statement according to IFRS
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
• Production of all documents requested by internal/external auditors.
• Actively report improvement opportunities to direct report
• Champion Safety: Complying with all safety rules and fostering a safety culture within the team.
• Support where required the Project Management.

What you bring to the table

• English level C1 (Italian and German are a plus).
• Good Italian and English (German is a plus)
• Degree in Finance, Economy, or related
• Experience (5+ year(s)) in accounting and finance department (Experience in Port areas, demanio/punto franco is a plus)
• Experience with Italian accounting standard and IFRS accounting standard
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 tools
• Attention to detail, dedicating to get it perfect
• Proactive self-planning
• Problem solving oriented
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to prepare contribution requests to public agencies, knowledge of Industry 4.0, leasing and long-term rental contracts
• Good understanding of SAP/accounting systems & procedures is desirable

The ideal candidate would have a valid EU work permit and would be willing to relocate to Trieste in short notice.
