What to Expect

We are looking for a motivated and open-minded professional to join our European team. Based in Italy , you will work remotely and travel up to 60% depending on business needs.

You will manage and develop sales for the Gates brand in the Industrial First Fit ‘Direct’ channel, focused on the Off-Highway segment.

This includes selling our Fluid Power and Power Transmission products into applications in Construction, Agriculture, Truck & Bus, and other growing industries.

  • Accountable for delivering the annual defined budget in full, with a continuous focus on raising the bar and exceeding expectations.
  • Leads the development and coordination of all sales activities related to the Infrastructure and Agriculture (Off-Highway) market segment, as well as other assigned customers within the geographic area of responsibility.
  • Ensures effective utilization and enforcement of established systems, procedures, and standards across all activities.
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of and ability to lead or support new product innovation initiatives and warranty-related projects.
  • Maintains transparent and effective communication through regular team meetings, one-on-ones, appropriate email exchanges, and interpersonal dialogue.
  • Holds decision-making authority within defined parameters and company procedures, including pricing and contractual terms (in line with the Delegation of Authority process).
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for customers, addressing both commercial and first-level technical matters.
  • Analyzes customer RFQs, prepares and submits quotations, and actively participates in technical discussions with OE customers, in compliance with internal processes (e.g., Gates Project Management).
  • Builds and sustains strong relationships with customer purchasing and engineering teams.
  • Manages project documentation in alignment with IATF 16949 requirements.
  • Oversees the contract review process (Gates APQP), coordinating with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Design, Test Center, Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, and Purchasing.
  • Provides leadership and overall accountability for each assigned or developed customer project, ensuring on-time and high-quality delivery.
  • Ensures all relevant project information is effectively communicated to customers in a timely manner.
  • Continuously researches and identifies new project opportunities, stays updated on customer technical needs and competitor landscape, and translates customer requirements into internal specifications for Gates Technical Centers to support product development and validation.

  • You will be responsible for selling Gates' products both face-to-face and remotely to new and existing key customers. You will research customer needs and effectively apply products and services to determine market strategies and goals for each offering. You will take responsibility for resolving issues related to communication, trust, and respect, making every effort to maintain strong relationships. You will implement strategies to accelerate the growth of new and existing products and / or expansion into new markets. This role includes identifying and contacting prospective customers and building long-term relationships to generate future sales and repeat business. You will monitor the competitive environment to identify opportunities and develop countermeasures to address competitive challenges. You will have primary accountability for the performance and revenue of assigned accounts, as well as additional responsibility for driving strategic initiatives.

Requirements And Preferred Skills

  • 5-7 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Business or Marketing required.
  • Proven commercial experience and demand generation skills to create customer ‘pull’ in the Transportation segment
  • Strong knowledge of Fluid Power or Power Transmission products and the technical OEM sales process.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work independently, to organize activities and work and to follow-up accordingly
  • Self-directed, self-motivated, and able to work and make decisions with limited guidelines and direction
  • Strong PowerPoint, Excel and CRM skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Native / Business Fluent in Italian and fluent in English
