Descrizione del lavoro
Overview

The Centre on Sustainable Energy (SE) supports the development of devices and methods for generation, storage, and distribution of energy solutions at low environmental impact. This is framed by energy sustainability and solutions that respect the environment and quality of life, with a lower impact on health and environmental pollution. The decarbonization targets require greater flexibility of the energy system, through new gas and power grids and energy vectors and storage solutions as enablers for wide renewable penetration.

The HYdrogen Technologies and Resilient Energy Systems (HyRES) Unit leads research and development in hydrogen technology and resilient energy systems, focusing on integrating renewable sources into a smarter energy grid, ensuring energy resilience and security, and collaborating with industrial partners. The research covers hydrogen production, storage, and final uses to reduce the carbon footprint of energy systems and contribute to a more sustainable and secure energy market.

Background information and description of research projects is retained in context of IPCEI Hy2Tech in FBK. FBK participates in all the specific technical fields (TF) of IPCEI Hy2Tech, with the aim to support the European H2 value chain and industry from TRL 3 to TRL7-8.

Main activities
  • Co-design and co-engineering of technologies;
  • Joint laboratory facilities enabling validation and testing of technology components, blocks, materials, and strategies for multiscale power and various conditions;
  • Safety and controls: designing safe hydrogen technologies with digital tools to support new products and processes;
  • Control development based on dynamic simulation;
  • Verification with SiL (Software In the Loop) and HiL (Hardware In the Loop), and territorial implementation for technologies and different end uses in industry, mobility, and territorial ecosystem.

Depending on organizational needs, the selected candidate may also be involved in additional activities or projects within the Centre.
