WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a talented and motivated early career scientist holding a PhD in environmental sciences to conduct high-quality research on climate predictability (annual to decadal timescales) with a focus on the role of ocean–atmosphere interactions in the extratropical North Atlantic.

ABOUT US
CMCC Foundation is a cross-cutting scientific research center on climate change and its interactions with the environment, society, the world of business, and policymakers.

ROLE
The employee will advance and produce new research on multi-annual to decadal predictability and ocean–atmosphere interactions contributing to different projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Research Scientist will join the Climate Variability and Prediction (CLIVAP) division of CMCC and will work in the framework of EU projects and international collaborations of the group supporting ongoing research activities on climate predictability and developing new research on related topics.

REQUIREMENTS

  • PhD Degree in environmental sciences with relevance to climate.
  • Quality publications as first author (quantity in proportion to post-doctoral experience).
  • Experience with the analysis of climate predictions would count as a plus.
  • Experience with Python and working with large data sets.
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language.

DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • The appointment period will be initially of 24 months starting from 2025, Oct./Nov., with a gross annual salary range of 40,000–50,000 Euros depending on post-doctoral experience.
  • Welfare package, for minimum 12 months contract.
  • Flexible working time as per internal policies.
  • Support during the immigration process, if needed.
