Our Divisions of Regional Ocean Forecasting Systems (ROFS) and Global Coastal Ocean (GOCO), part of the Institute for Earth System Predictions, is looking for 2 positions of Full Stack Developer to support the web visualization of our ocean forecasting systems.
Job location: Lecce, Italy

JUNIOR FULL STACK DEVELOPER (1 Position)

The Junior Full Stack Developer is responsible to support the development and maintenance of responsive digital ocean web applications. The role involves visualizing ocean forecasting data and building web platforms that present numerical model outputs, making ocean data and climate change projections accessible to both the scientific and the non-technical community.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Junior Full Stack Developer will be involved in the following activities:

• Development of graphic user interfaces
• Development and maintenance of web applications and ad-hoc REST API
• Development and maintenance of backend services

REQUIREMENTS
We are looking for a motivated person with the following requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent working experience) in Computer Science, Engineering or related STEM field.
• Strong knowledge in developing responsive web applications using HTML, CSS and JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (ReactJS, Next.js, Vue.js or equivalent).
• Good knowledge of development of REST API and interaction with web applications.
• Good knowledge of web services and backend development (NodeJS, PHP, Django, Flask).
• Good Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Knowledge of modern authorization mechanisms (Keycloak, JSON Web Token).
• Knowledge of Version Control Management Systems (git).
• Knowledge of GNU/Linux operating systems and Bash scripting.
• Fluency in the English language.

Furthermore, it is welcome to have the following experiences:

• Web GIS protocols (WMS, WFS) and servers (MapServer, GeoServer).
• Knowledge of application containerization (Docker, Singularity).
• Knowledge of collaborative design tools (Figma).
• Object-oriented design.
• Agile methodologies.
• HPC architectures and job schedulers (i.e., IBM Spectrum LSF).
• Additional programming languages.

DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Please note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally.
• The Junior Full Stack Developer will be based in Lecce CMCC office.
• The appointment period will be initially of 24 months starting from May or June 2025, with a gross annual salary range of 25-40K Euros.

SENIOR FULL STACK DEVELOPER (1 Position)

The Senior Full Stack Developer is responsible to support the design, development and maintenance of responsive digital ocean web applications. The role involves visualizing ocean forecasting data and building web platforms that present numerical model outputs, making ocean data and climate change projections accessible to both the scientific and the non-technical community.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Full Stack Developer will be involved in the following activities:

• Design and development of graphic user interfaces.
• Design and development of web applications and ad-hoc REST API.
• Design and development of backend services.

REQUIREMENTS
We are looking for a motivated person with the following requirements:

• Master’s Degree (or equivalent working experience) in Computer Science, Engineering or related STEM field.
• Expertise in developing responsive web applications using HTML, CSS and JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (ReactJS, Next.js, Vue.js or equivalent).
• Expertise in web services and backend development (NodeJS, PHP, Django, Flask).
• Proficiency in development of REST API and interaction with web applications.
• Expertise in SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Experience with modern authorization mechanisms (Keycloak, JSON Web Token).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker) and cloud platforms (AWS, Singularity).
• Experience in working closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define project requirements and deliver solutions.
• Experience with robust, secure, and high-performance solutions, making critical decisions on system design and technology stack.
• Proficiency in Version Control Management Systems (git).
• Knowledge of GNU/Linux operating systems and Bash scripting.
• Fluency in the English language.

DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• The contract will be fixed or permanent, based on the experience, starting from May or June 2025, with a gross annual salary range of 32-45K Euros.
