Job summary

Difinity Digital LLP in Kerala seeks a skilled WordPress developer to maintain and extend custom themes, plugins, and Gutenberg blocks. You will implement new functionalities, ensure code quality, and collaborate with design and content teams on landing pages and interactive elements.

You will optimize site performance, manage caching and database queries, and apply security hardening, backups, and regular updates. The role requires strong PHP OO skills, MySQL experience, and Git-based workflows.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of WordPress architecture, template hierarchy, hooks (Actions & Filters), WP_Query, REST API, and CPTs.
• Strong experience with object-oriented PHP (PHP 7.4/8.x) without heavy reliance on third-party builders.
• Solid knowledge of MySQL, WP database schema, and query optimization.
• Experience using Git-based deployment workflows.
• Proficiency with debugging tools and security practices.
• Basic Linux hosting familiarity, including Nginx/Apache configuration and DNS management.

Responsibilities

• Site Maintenance & Custom Development: maintain and enhance WordPress themes and plugins, create new functionalities and Gutenberg blocks.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

1. Site Maintenance & Custom Development

• Manage, maintain, and enhance our custom-coded WordPress theme and custom plugins.
• Develop new custom functionalities, post types, taxonomies, and Gutenberg blocks as needed.
• Ensure code quality and consistency across all site templates and modules.

2. Performance & Speed Optimization

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize website loading speeds (Core Web Vitals, GTmetrix, PageSpeed Insights).
• Implement and manage database optimization, object caching (Redis/Memcached), and server-level caching.
• Diagnose and resolve bottle-necks in database queries and PHP execution.

3. Security, Updates & Compliance

• Perform regular, safe core updates, plugin audits, and custom code refactoring.
• Implement robust security best practices (firewalls, malware scanning, hardening WP installations, input sanitization).
• Manage daily/weekly automated backups and maintain a working staging environment for testing changes before pushing live.

4. API Integration & Database Management

• Create, consume, and integrate RESTful APIs and 3rd-party services (e.g., CRM systems, payment gateways, marketing tools).
• Manage MySQL database structures, write custom SQL queries where needed, and ensure data integrity.
• Work alongside marketing, design, and content teams to build landing pages, custom layouts, and interactive elements.

Required Skill Set & Technical Qualifications

• WordPress Core Expertise: Deep understanding of WordPress architecture, Template Hierarchy, Hooks (Actions & Filters), WP_Query, REST API, and Custom Post Types (CPTs).
• PHP Mastery: Strong experience with object-oriented PHP (PHP 7.4 / 8.x) without relying heavily on heavy third-party plugins or visual builders (e.g., Elementor/Divi).
• Database Management: solid knowledge of MySQL, WP database schema, custom tables, and query optimization.
• Version Control: Experience using Git / GitHub / GitLab for code versioning and deployment workflows.
• Debugging & Security: Proficiency in using tools like Query Monitor, Chrome DevTools, and server error logs to diagnose and resolve bugs quickly.
• Server & Hosting: Basic understanding of Linux hosting environments, cPanel/Plesk, SSH, Nginx/Apache configuration, and DNS managemen
