Qualcomm India Private Limited in Bengaluru is seeking a software engineer to join the Wi‑Fi software development team for IEEE 802.11 based Wireless LAN solutions. You will contribute to design and implementation of new features and market-driven enhancements to Qualcomm’s Wi‑Fi stack, with emphasis on low power operation across market segments.

The role requires hands-on Linux kernel development for WLAN drivers, strong C skills, and deep knowledge of IEEE 802.11 protocols.

Qualifications

• Experience in Linux kernel development for WLAN drivers.
• Strong C programming skills.
• Knowledge of IEEE 802.11 protocol specifications.
• Experience with Wi-Fi Direct and Wi-Fi Aware protocols.
• Hands-on experience with wpa_supplicant, hostapd, nl80211.
• Familiarity with Linux IPC and synchronization.
• Knowledge of protocol analyzers (Wireshark, OmniPeek).
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication for multi-site work.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/EC; Master’s preferred.

General Summary

Role Description: The role is to be a part of the Wi-Fi software development team for Qualcomm’s range of Wireless LAN SoC solution based on IEEE 802.11. Work on extremely low power Wi-Fi for various market segments. Contribute to design and implementation of new features and market driven enhancements to Qualcomm’s Wi-Fi stack.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, unit test, and maintain protocol layer features in WLAN driver / applications for IEEE 802.11 devices
• Work closely with Firmware and System test teams to resolve system level issues
• Provide work breakdown for new features with feasibility study, effort estimates and risk mitigation

Skills

• 1 - 2 years of hands-on system software development experience on Linux kernel development, specifically network driver development
• Excellent C programming skills
• Good knowledge of IEEE 802.11 protocol specification
• Good knowledge in various WFA protocols such as Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Aware, etc
• Hands-on experience in wpa_supplicant, hostapd, nl80211 library
• Hands-on experience in Linux IPC and Synchronization mechanism
• Conversant with protocol analysers - OmniPeek, Wireshark and tools such as Chariot and iPerf
• Excellent trouble shooting and analytical skills that can be applied to resolve system issues
• Strong communication skills to ensure smooth co-ordination in a multi-site working environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Electronics / Communications Engineering. Master’s degree preferred

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

Knowledge of scripting languages like Python/Perl

Conversant with development tools (compilers, linkers, etc.) and debuggers such as JTAG, GDB etc.,
