Job summary

Isgec Heavy Engineering Ltd. in India is seeking a Welding Engineer to develop welding procedures for carbon, alloy, stainless and high-tensile steels used in Boilers, Heat Exchangers and Pressure Vessels.

You will ensure compliance with ASME SEC I, II, IX and B31.3, prepare WPS/PQR, estimate consumables, and coordinate NDE activities while interacting with customers and third parties. Prior GTAW automation and exotic material experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Develop welding procedures for carbon, alloy, stainless and high tensile steels per national/international codes.
• Must have analytical skills to identify root causes in welding quality and processes.
• Experience with GTAW automation is a plus and exotic materials exposure is advantageous.
• Knowledge of ASME codes and standards for Pressure Vessels and Boilers (ASME SEC I, II, V III, IX and B31.3).

Responsibilities

• Develop welding procedures and welding repair procedures (WRP) as required.
• Prepare WPS and PQR and ensure welding procedures are in line with codes.
• Coordinate heat treatment, consumables estimation and inventory management.
• Oversee Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) processes such as LPE, MPE, UE, RE and related testing.

Job description

• Developing welding procedures for Carbon, alloy, stainless and high tensile steels for the manufacture of Boilers, Heat Exchanger and Pressure Vessels to various national and international codes.
• Must have excellent grasping power & presentation skills & must process interpersonal & communication skills to maintain synergy between different customers and third party.
• Must have analytical skills to dig out root causes in the area of welding.
• Experience in GTAW automation will be an added advantage.
• Experience in exotic materials will be an added advantage.
• Should be aware with welding of different kind of material as P1(C-steel), P3, P4, P5 (Cr-Mo steel), P6, P7, P8 (Martensitic, Ferritic, Austenitic steel). Worked with materials like 304,304L, 316, 316L, 321,410, Inconel, Duplex, Super Duplex, etc.
• Knowledge of ASME codes and standards for Pressure Vessels and Boilers (ASME SEC I, SEC II, SEC V III, SEC IX, ASME B31.3).
• Knowledge of Weld Plan, PQR, WPS, SWP, Welding Repair procedure, heat treatment, consumables estimation & inventory management & Non-Destructive Examination (LPE, MPE, UE, RE etc.).
• Knowledge of Welder training & qualifications.
• Knowledge of Different Welding Processes like SMAW, GTAW, SAW, GMAW, ESSC, FCAW, Groove welding & weld overlays.
