Job summary

Normet Group, a global technology company serving mining, tunnelling and construction, invites a Welder Operator in Jaipur to join our skilled manufacturing team. You will perform MIG/MMA welding, read drawings, and ensure parts meet tolerances.

The role emphasizes quality, safety and 5S standards; you will maintain equipment, document inspections, and support production with precise welding for complex assemblies.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret technical drawings, engineering blueprints, and welding symbols to ensure accurate dimensions.
• Perform welding operations (MIG/SMAW) per welding procedure specifications (WPS).
• Prepare metals by fitting, tacking, grinding, beveling, shaping and cleaning before/after welding.
• Inspect welds for defects and ensure structural integrity per standards.
• Set up and maintain welding equipment, check for gas leaks, jams and cable damage.
• Follow health and safety guidelines and maintain a clean, hazard-free workspace.
• Maintain 5S standards: clean tools, area, and secure cylinders.

Responsibilities

• Welding as required using MIG/MMAW based on production needs.

• Prepare and fit metal parts, grind, bevel and clean as required.
• Inspect completed welds for quality and adherence to standards.

• Welding Operations: Perform GMAW (MIG)Welding, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) depending on production requirements. Join metals in various positions (Flat Horizontal or vertical position) by using appropriate Welding Parameter Setting (correct voltage, amperage, wire feed speed, and shielding gas flow). Perform welding as per Welding procedure specification. (WPS).
• Drawing Reading: Read and interpret technical drawings, engineering blueprints, and welding symbols to ensure accurate dimensions and alignment.
• Material Preparation: Fit, tacking grinding, beveling, shape, and cleaning metals parts before and after the welding process. Ensure proper alignment using appropriate jigs and fixtures.
• Quality Control: Inspect completed welds for defects, structural integrity, and adherence to company quality and safety standards. Ensure adequate root penetration and prevent welding defects such as undercut, porosity, spatter, and incomplete fusion. Filling Check sheet & Inspection report.
• Equipment Maintenance: Set up, operate, and perform basic daily maintenance on welding machines, torches, and fixtures. Immediately check for gas leakage, wire jamming, and cable damage and report any abnormalities to the supervisor.
• Safety compliance: Follow strict Normet health and safety guidelines, including wearing proper Personal protective equipment and maintain clean hazards free workspace. Remove all flammable materials from the work area and maintain awareness of the location and proper use of fire extinguishers
• 5S Standards: Daily cleaning of the MIG torch, contact tip, gas nozzle, diffuser, and wire feeder rollers. Clean the work area after welding, remove welding spatter, and keep cables and hoses properly arranged. Keep CO₂ / Argon gas cylinders upright on a trolley and secure them properly with chains
