Job summary

Balasore Alloys Limited is seeking a Civil/Environmental Engineer to manage mine water systems and ensure regulatory compliance. You will plan and operate dewatering, handle Cr(VI) treatment, and monitor water quality while coordinating with regulators and external labs.

The candidate should have 5+ years in mine water management, with open-cast mining experience preferred, and strong documentation and liaison skills. This is an on-site role in Odisha.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Civil / Environmental Engineering or M.Sc in Hydrogeology / Environmental Science.
• 5+ years of experience in mine water management, dewatering or effluent treatment.
• Working knowledge of Cr(VI) treatment and ETP operations.
• Familiarity with CGWA, OSPCB and MoEF&CC compliance requirements.
• Experience in open-cast chromite mining is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Plan, operate and maintain mine dewatering and pumping systems to support uninterrupted mining.
• Operate the ETP / Cr(VI) treatment system for mine water and ensure discharge meets prescribed standards.
• Carry out groundwater and surface-water monitoring, including piezometer and water quality sampling.
• Ensure compliance with CGWA NOC, OSPCB Consent to Operate and Environmental Clearance conditions; prepare statutory returns and reports.
• Design and maintain rainwater harvesting structures, garland drains, check dams and settling ponds.
• Plan monsoon water management and prevent uncontrolled discharge from mine areas.
• Coordinate with regulators, environment team and external labs during inspections and audits.
