Job summary

Pon Pure in Chennai is seeking an experienced procurement professional to oversee end-to-end purchasing of chemicals, packing materials and related items. You will manage RFQs, negotiate terms, and release POs using SAP or Tally while ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulatory documentation.

The role focuses on vendor development, performance evaluation, and import coordination, with emphasis on GST and documentation.

Qualifications

• 48 years of purchase experience, including at least 3 years buying chemicals in a product-based manufacturing company.
• Good knowledge of industrial or specialty chemicals and chemical documentation (TDS, SDS, COA).
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Working knowledge of GST, e-way bills and import procedures.
• Good communication in English and Tamil.

Responsibilities

• Handle end-to-end purchase of chemical raw materials, packing materials and consumables, from PR to PO, GRN and payment.
• Float RFQs, prepare comparison statements, negotiate price, payment terms and delivery, and release POs in SAP / Tally.
• Verify chemical grade, purity and specifications, and check TDS, SDS/MSDS and COA before approving material.
• Coordinate with QC on incoming inspection and rejections, and with stores to maintain minimum stock levels.
• Arrange safe transport of hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals.
• Identify, qualify and develop new vendors and alternate sources for critical chemicals.
• Evaluate vendor performance on quality, delivery and price, and maintain rate contracts.
• Handle import purchases, customs documents and freight coordination.
• Prepare MIS reports on open POs, cost savings and vendor performance.

• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Working knowledge of GST, e-way bills and import procedures.
• Good communication in English and Tamil.
• Candidates based in Chennai are preferred.
