Qualificações

• B.Sc./DMLT/M.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology or Microbiology.
• 3–5 years’ hospital/diagnostic lab experience as Microbiology Lab Technician.
• Hands-on culture, staining and antimicrobial susceptibility testing experience.
• Knowledge of infection control and laboratory safety practices.
• Ability to work in rotational shifts.

Responsabilidades

• Process and examine clinical specimens including blood, urine, stool, sputum, swabs and other body fluids.

Role & responsibilities

• Process and examine clinical specimens including blood, urine, stool, sputum, swabs and other body fluids.
• Perform routine microbiological investigations as per laboratory protocols.
• Perform Gram staining, microscopy, culture and sensitivity testing.
• Handle bacterial culture, identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
• Prepare culture media, reagents and stains as per standard procedures.
• Operate and maintain microbiology laboratory equipment.
• Ensure proper specimen collection, labeling, processing and storage.
• Perform internal quality control and maintain quality records.
• Identify contamination and follow appropriate corrective procedures.
• Maintain proper documentation of culture and sensitivity results.
• Follow infection control, biomedical waste management and laboratory safety protocols.
• Coordinate with microbiologists/pathologists for abnormal or critical findings.
• Maintain cleanliness and sterility of the microbiology work area.

Preferred candidate profile

• 3-5 years of experience as a Microbiology Lab Technician in a hospital or diagnostic laboratory.
• B.Sc./DMLT/M.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology/Microbiology or relevant qualification.
• Hands-on experience in culture, staining and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
• Good knowledge of microbiology laboratory procedures and infection control.
• Knowledge of automated microbiology systems will be an advantage.
• Good documentation and analytical skills.
• Ability to work in rotational shifts.
