Mobility Lab (POS Integration & Infrastructure Support)

Job Summary

The Mobility Lab serves as a central hub for end-to-end integration testing of Shell’s retail Point of Sale (POS) solutions deployed across global sites. The lab supports more than 22 markets across Europe, the Americas, and East regions, enabling complex multi-market validation on SD-WAN-based network architectures.

System Engineers are responsible for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing the Mobility Lab infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security compliance, and seamless integration testing across global environments. This role requires hands-on expertise in Windows-based systems, networking, and POS infrastructure.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Lab Operations

• Support and maintain Mobility Lab infrastructure used for end-to-end POS integration testing.
• Ensure availability, stability, and performance of lab systems across multiple global market setups.
• Manage and maintain lab assets including servers, workstations, network devices, and POS components.
• Perform regular health checks, patching, upgrades, and housekeeping activities for lab environments.

Network & Connectivity Support

• Configure, manage, and troubleshoot SD-WAN-based network setups used by global Shell retail sites.
• Support unfiltered internet connectivity using public IP addresses provided via BT and Shell.
• Perform basic firewall configuration, rule validation, and network security checks.
• Troubleshoot network connectivity, latency, routing, and DNS-related issues.
• Collaborate with network service providers, internal IT, and vendors for issue resolution.

Windows Server & Endpoint Management

• Install, configure, and administer Windows Server environments.
• Manage Windows 10 and 11 systems used for POS testing and lab operations.
• Configure and maintain core services such as DHCP and DNS.
• Apply security patches, OS upgrades, and compliance guidelines as per corporate standards.

POS & Retail Systems Support

• Support POS Back Office Server (BOS) and store system setups for integration testing.
• Assist in POS application installation, configuration, and validation across different markets.
• Provide first-line troubleshooting for POS, BOS, and peripheral-related issues.
• Support integration testing activities involving payment, network, and backend systems.

Incident, Problem & Change Management

• Provide L1/L2 infrastructure support for lab-related incidents and service requests.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain incident documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
• Support planned changes, lab upgrades, and new market onboarding activities.

Security, Compliance & Governance

• Ensure lab infrastructure adheres to Shell security, network, and compliance standards.
• Follow access control, audit, and SEZ-related guidelines where applicable.
• Support audits, compliance reviews, and security assessments for the Mobility Lab.

Collaboration & Documentation

• Work closely with project teams, vendors, and global stakeholders.
• Contribute to SOPs, technical documentation, and standard operating procedures.
• Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions and cross-team collaboration.

Required Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills (Mandatory)

• Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server and Windows 10 and 11.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, routing, DNS, DHCP).
• Working knowledge of SD-WAN environments and enterprise network setups.
• Basic firewall and security concepts.

Technical Skills (Desirable / Added Advantage)

• Experience with POS and Back Office Server (BOS) setups.
• Exposure to retail systems, payment environments, or lab-based integration testing.
