Job summary

HSBC Global Asset Management India Private Limited is seeking a mutual fund sales professional to drive distributor network growth and fund sales in the India region. The role requires building relationships with banks, IFAs, and national distributors, presenting fund strategies, and delivering portfolio solutions to clients.

You will own sales budgets, grow AUM, conduct training and webinars, and ensure compliance with SEBI/AMFI/KYC/AML guidelines.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in mutual fund distribution, wealth sales, or private banking.
  • NISM VA certification is mandatory.
  • Graduate or postgraduate degree in finance, business, or related fields.
  • Strong relationship management, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Proficient with sales pipelines, Excel/CRM reporting and basic portfolio analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage relationships with banks, IFAs, and national distributors; expand the IFA network.
  • Own quarterly/annual sales budgets, focus on AUM growth, and meet/exceed mutual fund sales targets.
  • Present fund strategies, market views, and portfolio solutions to IFAs, relationship managers, and institutional clients; support them in client conversations and portfolio reviews.
  • Conduct internal/external training sessions, product workshops, and webinars; create sales plans around focus funds and campaigns.
  • Gather feedback from the field, share competitor and flow trends, and work with product teams to refine positioning and campaigns.
  • Ensure all sales activities adhere to SEBI/AMFI/KYC/AML guidelines; maintain accurate records and reporting.

Business Descriptor:

HSBC's Asset & Wealth Management is primarily responsible for driving mutual fund sales through distributor networks and client relationships, while ensuring compliance and delivering market insights to advisors and investors.

A HSBC Mutual Fund Sales Representative (often titled Sales & Distribution, Relationship Manager, or Product Specialist in HSBC's Asset & Wealth Management) is primarily responsible for driving mutual fund sales through distributor networks

Core responsibilities
  • Distributor & IFA (Independent Financial Adviser(s)/) channel development: Build and manage relationships with banks, IFAs, and national distributors; expand the IFA network and deepen penetration in the assigned region.
  • Sales targets & assets under management (AUM) growth: Own quarterly/annual sales budgets, focus on AUM growth, and meet/exceed mutual fund sales targets.
  • Client/advisor engagement: Present fund strategies, market views, and portfolio solutions to IFAs, relationship managers, and institutional clients; support them in client conversations and portfolio reviews.
  • Training & enablement: Conduct internal/external training sessions, product workshops, and webinars for internal teams and advisors; create sales plans around "focus funds" and campaigns.
  • Market intelligence: Gather feedback from the field, share competitor and flow trends, and work with product teams to refine positioning and campaigns.
  • Compliance & documentation: Ensure all sales activities adhere to SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) /AMFI (Association of Mutual Funds in India) guidelines, KYC (Know Your Customer )/AML(Anti-Money Laundering ) norms, and internal risk/compliance policies; maintain accurate records and reporting.
Requirements

Experience: 5+years; prior experience in mutual fund distribution, wealth sales, or private banking is preferred.

Certifications: NISM VA certification is mandatory

Education: Graduate/postgraduate in finance, business, or related fields.

Skills: Strong relationship management, negotiation, presentation skills; comfort with sales pipelines, Excel/CRM reporting, and basic portfolio analytics.

  • Mandatory to successfully complete Anti-Money Laundering and Sanctions training and post-course assessment, as required.
