Job summary

GeoServe is seeking an experienced Voyage Operations professional to manage pre-fixture and post-fixture activities for dry bulk vessels in Mumbai. You will assist in gathering vessel specs, cargo capacity, and voyage costs, and coordinate 24/7 voyage execution with brokers, owners, and internal teams.

The role requires 5–6 years in commercial operations with seagoing dry bulk exposure, strong negotiation skills, and proficiency in IMOS.

Qualifications

• 5–6 years’ experience in commercial operations.
• Seagoing management experience on dry bulk vessels.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and across teams.
• Experience with IMOS system.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chartering Department in collating information for pre-fixture negotiations.
• Coordinate voyage execution with brokers, charterers, owners and agents on a 24/7 basis.
• Monitor ship performance at sea and manage port disbursement reviews.
• Ensure timely collection of receivables and support cash flow improvement.
• Negotiate and appoint port agents and plan bunkers as per trading areas.

Job Summary:

Responsible for the pre & post fixture operations of Dry bulk vessels

Task & Responsibilities:

1) Assist the Chartering Department in collating the information required by customers during the pre-fixture negotiations. The information required may include:

• Details of the vessel specifications
• Cargo carrying capabilities
• Performance history of the vessel
• Assessing suitability for the trade & Vessel scheduling
• Cargo hold readiness
• Estimated Voyage Costs
• Port specific information

2) Execution of Voyage:

• Thorough in Voyage planning & voyage orders for Master, including maximizing on cargo intake and bunker requirements etc.
• To liaise and coordinate with Brokers, Charterers, Owners, Agents, Internal departments on efficient & to facilitate execution of the voyage on a 24/7 basis.
• Monitor ships performance at sea.
• Liaising with accounting and preparing summary of outstanding, receivables.
• Ensure collection of all receivables to improve cash flow.
• Contest / defend and negotiate claims.
• Thorough understanding of the voyage Profit & Loss account.
• To ascertain that the vessel optimizes cargo intakes & to ensure vessel is sufficiently bunkered.
• To coordinate with weather routing services & ensure vessel is following optimal sea route.
• To negotiate & appoint port agents, plan bunkers stem as per grades permissible to trading areas.
• To bill for freight and other charterers claims and coordinate with post fixture group.
• Post fixture inputs to Claims Coordinators
• Review and approval of Port Disbursement accounts.
• Record keeping and Data Management in company systems

Qualification & Experience:

• Minimum (5 - 6) years’ experience in commercial operations
• Seagoing experience in the management position on Dry Bulk vessels.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Strong experience in pre-fixture operations
• The candidate should be able to work independently & also feel comfortable collaborating & communicating across all levels of the organization.
• Good at negotiations and communications.
• Experience in IMOS operating system.
• Need to be pro-active rather reactive in nature
