Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Role Description

The VMC Operator will be responsible for operating and monitoring Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs) to manufacture mould base components as per drawings and specifications. Day-to-day tasks include machine setup, selecting and setting tools, loading programs, adjusting offsets, and ensuring proper clamping and alignment of workpieces. The role involves checking dimensions using measuring instruments, maintaining required tolerances, and performing basic preventive maintenance and cleaning of machines. The VMC Operator will also be expected to follow safety procedures, coordinate with the production and quality teams, and complete production targets within scheduled timelines. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Belgaum.

Qualifications

• Strong skills in VMC machine operation, setup, and basic CNC program handling for mould base or precision component manufacturing.
• Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, and height gauges to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, machining symbols, and process sheets for accurate job execution.
• Knowledge of cutting tools, tool selection, and machining parameters (feeds, speeds, depth of cut) for various materials.
• Understanding of basic quality control procedures, inspection methods, and adherence to ISO 9001:2015 and shop-floor standards.
• Familiarity with shop safety practices, housekeeping, and preventive maintenance routines for VMC machines.
• Minimum ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Tool & Die, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience in machining.
• Previous experience as a VMC Operator or similar machining role in a mould base or precision engineering environment is preferred.
• Ability to work in shifts, meet production targets, and collaborate effectively with supervisors and team members.
